Birthday parties are very special occasions at our house. A day to celebrate our little ones and mark the start of another year of milestones. When our youngest turned four-years-old he was obsessed with the Teen Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT). Naturally, this became the theme of this birthday party. I made the parties decorations using simple materials and a few printables. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle birthday party turned out so cute.
Tablescape
This party was green on green on green. I kept the tablescape simple as I really wanted the cake to stand out. This was the first birthday I did not make the cake myself, instead, I asked my cake-making friend Nicole Faust to help. She more than delivered. The cake was the talk of the party. To draw even more attention to the cake, I used half-inch PVC pipe that I’d painted silver as a sort of table runner. The pipe was meant to look like the sewer pipes that run through the TMNT’s underground lair.
To create the place settings, TMNT dessert plates were stacked on top of blue square dinner plates. I wrapped silverware in green napkins and secured them with a piece of ribbon. I also glued googly eyes to the ribbon napkin ties to make them look like masked ninja turtles. TMNT water bottle wrappers covered lemon-lime Gatorade bottles as the beverage for the party. You can find a similar bottle wrapper here.
Since the party would include around a dozen guests, I set up a 6-foot table in our living room for extra eating space. The centerpiece of this table was a pizza box, a couple of patio blocks, more painted PVC pipe and a toy TMNT figurine. The pizza box came from a local pizza delivery restaurant. I just walked in and asked real nice if I could have a box. I tried to pay them but ended up getting it for free. The two patio paver blocks were purchased at a home improvement store as was a 4 inch PVC tee socket that I spray painted silver. To complete the centerpiece I snagged a figurine from the birthday boy’s toybox.
Hanging Decorations
A masked TMNT door covering greeted guests as they arrived at the party. The TMNT door covering is a green plastic tablecloth as the base with a red plastic tablecloth as the TMNT mask. The circles for the eyes were made using sheets of scrapbook paper. I also decorated the stairway leading up to the party. I used green paper fans and attached masks using this free printable. On our patio door I hung a printable TMNT banner I purchased on Etsy.
