Flowers, chocolate hearts and sweet messages all come to mind at Valentine’s Day. I celebrate this special holiday with my boys by creating a few picture-themed decorations and tossing together some sweet treats to throw a Little Love Valentine Party.
Decorations
The Little Love Valentine party is both personalized and meaningful, starting with the decorations at our dining table. The base of the table decorations starts with a simple Valentine-themed, disposable table cloth. I then add a centerpiece using a red dishcloth where I set out the homemade pizza we make together. The pizza will then be flanked by a small sign. From the chandelier, I hang a few foam hearts to which I’ve glued pictures of our family and tied with red ribbon. A simple place setting compliments the table decorations.
Place Setting
The place setting starts with a black plastic dinner plate that is topped with a Valentine dessert plate. I’m a fan of using disposable pieces for my themed parties. It keeps the cost done and makes clean up easy. Next, I fill a small dessert cup with fresh fruit and a cupcake pick for a bit of festive flare. Lastly, I fold a decorative napkin into a triangle and top with flatware.
After the place setting is complete, I focus on the party’s drinks. I use the same drink bottles featured in my Mo, Cluck, Ba Birthday party. I cover them with a themed drink wrapper and stick in a kid-friendly straw. To complete the place setting, I stuff 2×3 frames with themed pictures and sayings similar to these.
A Pizza My Heart
Our Valentine meal doesn’t include reservations. Instead, we make homemade, heart shaped pizza. The boys enjoy rolling out the crust, adding their favorite toppings and savoring the cheesy deliciousness. The Little Love Valentine Party has become a family tradition we all look forward to each February.
Happy Adventuring, Rochelle
