Gooey toppings, an obnoxious amount of sprinkles and a tower of whipped cream. These are the three key ingredients to a successful Last Day of School Ice Cream Party. Our kids have overcome many unforeseen challenges this year to adjust to distance learning. Their efforts and tenacity call for a few scoops of ice cream and all their favorite toppings to mark the completion of the school year.
What’s the Scoop?
The supplies for my Last Day of School: Ice Cream Party are few and come from both Target and Walmart. The tiered galvanized stand features all the ice cream toppings. The stand is used at many of our parties including my Dinosaur Taco Party. I dumped Reese’s Pieces, M&Ms, Nerds and chopped Snickers into colorful tiny bowls and placed them on the bottom tier. The top tier features hot fudge, caramel sauce and strawberry topping (my favorite).
Sundaes are for Celebrating
The kitchen island serves as the party’s serving station. An ice cream themed table cloth covers the island and lime green placemats are laid on the diagonal to create a runner. These are the same placements I’ve used at our Leap Year Party. Next, a stack of teal plastic bowls and a mason jar with pink plastic spoons create pops of color to the ice cream themed island. To complete the look, I add an ice cream sundae poster and an ice cream cone banner.
Of course, the party needs a special drink as well. I pour pink lemonade into repurposed Starbucks Frappuccino glasses. These glasses get frequent use. You can find them in my After School Milk and Cookies Party as well as in my Barnyard Birthday Bash. I complete the look with a pink striped paper straw.
If an ice cream party isn’t enough of a celebration for you, check out my Welcome Summer: Last Day of School Party. It features summer outdoor games, a summer vacation lunch menu and ends with an outdoor movie.
Bring on summer vacation.
