Movie night is a favorite at our house. Piles of pillows, popcorn and people on our couch makes for great family time. This fall, I wanted to have a family movie night that involved a pumpkin-themed movie. The obvious choice was “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” The great pumpkin party features a popcorn bar and the cutest sugar cookies from Oh, Cookie Bakery.
Pallet Backdrop
The backdrop for the Great Pumpkin party is an old packing pallet. The pallet backdrop is also a feature in our Stargazing and S’mores party. To start the pallet backdrop, drape a fall garland across the top of the pallet. At each corner attach a burlap bow with an accent strand of wired, orange ribbon. To complete the backdrop, use a sign or poster from the Great Pumpkin movie. I found this yard flag online and made it work for the party’s purpose.
Popcorn Bar
The party’s popcorn bar features a bushel basket of popcorn with multiple pails of possible popcorn mix-ins. I used two bags of pre-popped, bagged, white popcorn that was displayed in a parchment paper-lined bushel basket. I found these great pumpkin printables and based my popcorn toppings off of them. The popcorn toppings were scooped out of metal buckets that I tied bits of orange ribbon to. In addition to gummy fish, M&Ms and sprinkles there were small shakers of popcorn salt and parmesan cheese to add to your popcorn sack.
Great Pumpkin Cookies
The party drink is lemonade served in mason jar glasses and staged in a pitcher propped on a cake stand. The cake stand was added to create some height to the display. One of the cutest features of the party is the great pumpkin sugar cookies. Our friends at Oh, Cookie Bakery decorated several cookie styles including ghosts, a Welcome Great Pumpkin Sign, Charlie Brown’s shirt and of course….pumpkins. The cookies were a nice, sweet addition to the popcorn bar, almost too adorable to eat.
