Back to School is an exciting time of year. The occasion typically gets recognized at our house with a before-school pizza party or a milk and cookies after-school snack party. But, my boys are getting older so I decided to update our first day of school festivities with a Fortnite Back to School Party.
The Fortnite theme is fitting, well, because the boys LOVE video games. Creating this party is easy as it uses just a few decorations and easy to assemble snacks.
Place settings and Signage
To create the Fortnite Back to School Party place settings, start by using a black disposable tablecloth to cover the serving surface. Use lime green placemats to ground the setting. Then layer on a black dinner plate and party-themed party plates. I use the green placemats at our end-of-school party as well. All the party snacks are finger foods. So instead of silverware, create a gamer-themed licorice wrap. I use Twizzlers Pull and Peel licorice. The Born to Play Fortnite sign is a digital download I purchased here and backed with purple cardstock.
Supply Drop
The supply drop snack bin is my favorite part of this party. You can purchase all the items for the supply drop at the dollar store. To create the supply drop bin, start by filling a blue plastic crate with yellow shredded paper. Next add in canisters of chips, packets of microwave popcorn, sports drinks and a couple of toy guns for added fun. The labels for the bin and snacks can be found here. Lastly, tie a yellow helium-filled balloon to the ends of the crate. Super fun!
Cupcakes
To add a chocolatey treat to the party, make cupcakes. Simply frost chocolate cupcakes and add a layer of colorful sprinkles. Next, top with Fortnite dance cupcake picks. They look really good on top of a lime green cake stand.
The Fortnite Back to School Party is a fun way to celebrate the start of another academic year. My boys still love the cute parties I plan for them, but this one was a bit more age-appropriate for our budding young men.
