If you have a little one fascinated with all things fire fighting, there’s no better way to celebrate than with a little firefighter birthday party. My son’s obsession with firefighters started with a stuffed dalmatian. The stuffed animal is the inspiration for this little firefighter party; complete with a ladder truck cake and fire house decorations.
Fire Truck Cake
The cake took center stage at the party. A simple yellow, disposable table cloth is the base for the ladder truck birthday cake. A piece of red and white polka dot fabric then sits atop the table cloth and serves as a platform to display the cake. I baked the cake the night before the party and loosely followed instructions found here.
After the main cake was complete, birthday candles were added so as to not disrupt the cake’s design. Next, I used white fondant in the shape of a fire hose and pooled it near the candles. Finally, the candles were able to stand next to the hose using a small disc of black fondant.
Little Firefighter Decorations
Streamers and balloons make up the bulk of the decorations for this little firefighter birthday party. I started by twisting black and yellow streamers that hung from the main dining table to the adjacent walls. Next, I added red/white and black/white polka dot balloons as accents.
More balloons greeted party goers in our home’s entryway. This balloon wreath is made with yellow, red and black balloons and then accented with a birthday sign purchased from The Paper Kingdom. The Paper Kingdom also supplied the centerpiece for one of the party’s dining tables. The birthday boy’s rain boot is the base of the centerpiece.
Little Firefighter Dessert Table
In addition to a little firefighter birthday cake, this party also featured a dessert table with firefighter cupcakes. More red and white polka dot fabric as well as more polka dot balloons were used as the dessert table’s backdrop. I made the birthday sign using my Cricut and the Create a Critter and Boys with Toys cartridges. Lastly, the birthday boy’s custom shirt is on Etsy. You can find a similar one here.
To complete the dessert table, I brought in the birthday boy’s toys to round out the theme. Propped beside the cupcakes is the party’s inspiration piece, Fire Puppy, as well as a toy ladder truck. I often use my boys’ toys in their birthday party decorations; like in the Construction Birthday Party. The Paper Kingdom is again responsible for the adorable cupcake toppers.
We had a lot of fun at the firefighter birthday party with family and friends. The party’s personal touches were reminders of the wonderful youngster our little one is growing up to be.
Happy Adventuring, Rochelle
