Go Dog Go, The Cat In the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham; these Dr. Seuss books are staples of our childhoods and found in almost every kid’s library. To celebrate the beloved author we planned a Dr. Seuss Party complete with themed treats and adorable decorations.
To create a Dr. Seuss Party, start with a couple of your child’s favorite books by the famous author. From there build in decorations and treats that suit the books you’ve selected. For this party, I chose Green Eggs and Ham, Hop on Pop and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish as well as The Lorax.
Green Eggs and Ham
To create this party, start by draping your party space with a red and white checkered piece of fabric. I used the same fabric from our Caramel Apple Party. On top of the red and white fabric, layer a piece of Dr. Seuss-themed fabric to serve as a table runner. Create place settings using a lime green placemat and a white dinner plate. The lime placemats, as well as the orange drinks, were also featured in our Dinosaur Taco Party.
On top of the white dinner plate, use a 6-inch skillet to feature a Green Eggs and Ham-themed treat. The eggs are made by dipping Oreo’s in almond bark and topping with a green M&M. The ham is a strip of strawberry Fruit by the Foot.
Hop on Pop and One Fish Two Fish
The next treats in this party are from the Hop on Pop book and the One Fish Two Fish book. Using microwave popcorn, fill a couple of movie-style popcorn containers. You can find a themed label here. To make the One Fish Two Fish treat use blue raspberry jello in clear drink cups and top with a couple of Swedish Fish candies.
The Lorax
The final treat for this bookalicious party is Lorax-themed Nutter Butters. To create, pipe yellow frosting at the narrowest part of the cookie to create a beard. Finish the look by adding candied or mini M&M eyes.
For another festive touch to the party, create Lorax truffula trees. Use a 4-inch styrofoam ball for the tuft. Use hot-glue to attach a strip of furry boa. For the tree trunks use a wooden dowel and cover with striped/polka-dotted washi tape. Secure the base of the truffula tree in a metal pail using floral foam to balance the tree. To hide the floral foam, add a handful of shredded paper around the base of the tree.
Round out the party decorations by hanging a banner of books and scattering various books throughout the party space. The Dr. Seuss Party is sure to capture the imagination of every young reader.
