Themed dinners are always a family favorite. My boys recently received these dinosaur taco holders as a gift. I immediately saw this as an opportunity to plan a special themed dinner; Dinosaur Taco Tuesday was born.
The party’s inspiration as most definitely the Triceratops taco holders. Instead of a bucket of candy, the boys’ grandpa gave them these too cute taco stands as a Halloween gift. The rest of the party supplies are from Party City. It all came together so well that the boys have asked if Dinosaur Taco Tuesday can be a weekly tradition.
Dinosaur Place Setting
The place settings for the dinner started with a line green, square placemat. I then layered on a fiesta dinner plate and a serape napkin. The taco holder sits prominently at the top of the place setting. I then added a glass bottle of Jarritos mandarin drink for its splash of color and fruity taste.
Fiesta Touches
The Dinosaur Taco Tuesday’s decorations are minimal. A simple serape striped table runner and a pennant banner hung from the island lights.
Food as Focal Point
The most visually attractive (and flavorful) feature of this themed dinner is the food. The tiered tray from our Christmas Movies party was put to use here as well. The bottom layer of the tray housed colored ramekins of cheese, tomato, onion and lettuce. Salsa, pico de gallo and queso complete the top tier. To make for easy grabbing and dipping, tortilla chips are found in the empty spaces of both tiers.
Finally, red bowls with piles of beef and shredded chicken are set next to the centerpiece along side rectangular dishes of taco shells and tortillas.
Dinosaur Taco Tuesday was the highlight of our week. Thanks for checking out this themed dinner. I hope you enjoy all of life’s little trips.
Happy Adventuring, Rochelle
