A trip to the apple orchard is one of the joys of the fall season. Our family enjoys the visit to the orchard but the real treat is the caramel apple bar and all the delicious desserts we make with our peck of apples. To set the scene and create a festive atmosphere for our caramel apple bar, I decorate the kitchen and dining areas to celebrate all things apple. In this post, I’ll share all the details and the supply list for how to put together this fall favorite.
The inspiration for this party came from a trip to the craft store when I spied this adorable red apple chalkboard sign. I used the sign to create the rest of the party. For all of Mommy Baggage’s parties, I use our kitchen island as a place to serve food and the dining table as a place to enjoy the meal or treats. Exceptions have been our Christmas Movie Parties and Hot Cocoa Party. For this party, the island became the caramel apple dippin’ station. Three white, dip bowls were filled with chopped Snicker bars, mini chocolate chips, and mini M&Ms. I stained a crate a dark brown and adorned it with several of our orchard pickin’s. This crate is also used in our Hoppy Birthday Party.
Apple Dipping Station
I purchased a few yards of fabric to create the layered table covering. A red and white checkered fabric covered the entire kitchen island. I cut a table runner from a red and gold plaid fabric. Lastly, I cut a piece of green accent fabric and hot glued a strip of white tassel ribbon along the edge. To finish the island display, I placed a white plate and bowl on top of the crate to show off our apple slices and caramel. I hand drew on the chalkboard sign and set it next to a carafe of apple cider. A piece of extra fabric was tied around the carafe for added cuteness. The finishing touch is a apple banner printable I found on Etsy and strung with jute twine.
Apple-icious Dining
The caramel apple bar was the appetizer for our dinner. I set the dining area with several apple decorations to continue the theme. The place settings for this party are some of my favorite. The place setting starts with a red cloth placemat. Then I added a raw edge wooden charger and a simple white dinner plate. Atop the dinner plate is a brown paper utensil holder adorned with a printable from Beth Kruse CC and a red scalloped ribbon. To complete the place setting, I wrapped a glass drink jar in burlap ribbon, more printables from Beth Kruse CC, red buttons and a polka dot straw. I love the simple look and the bright red color of the place settings.
The simplicity continues with the centerpieces. A single strand of eucalyptus garland was used down the center of the table. To accent the eucalyptus, I added picks of red apples, white baby’s breath, a couple short pillar candles and a few more apples from the orchard.
