As my boys get older, it gets harder to buy them gifts. Either they can’t think of anything they want, they only want money or they ask for something super expensive or something I’m unwilling to buy. Enter the candy explosion gift box. It’s quickly becoming my go-to gift and it’s also a great way to give a gift card.
To create this sugary surprise gift box, start by finding at least three cardboard gift boxes with lids that can be stacked inside each other. I found mine at Walmart.
For this gift box I used the following sized boxes:
- Large Box-8.9 inches x 8.9 inches x 5.5 inches
- Medium Box-6.25 inches x 6.25 inches x 4.25 inches
- Small Box-4 inches x 4 inches x 3.75 inches
Large Box
Besides plenty of candy and the gift boxes, the only other supplies needed are an x-acto knife and double-sided tape. To begin, start by using the x-acto knife to cut the vertical sides of the large box. This will allow the sides of the box to fall flat.
With the sides of the box flat, attach your favorite movie theater style boxes of candy. Use the double-sided tape to attach the candy boxes to the flaps.
Medium and Small Box
To continue building the candy explosion gift box, repeat the process for the medium sized box. In the medium sized box, you will likely have to use snack size pieces of candy as the margins are narrower. After cutting the medium sized box and taping in the candy, place your gift card in the small box and attach the lid. Do not cut the vertical sides of the smallest box.
