Our guy celebrated a birthday a few weeks back. This birthday pie bar was a great way to bring together his love of pie and his addiction to coffee. Using several decorations from previous parties, I was able to put together this pie bar and left the baking to a pie shop. Here’s how it all came together.
The Pies
I’m not a huge fan of baking so for this party, I left the pies to the professionals. I ordered the pies ahead of time and picked them up the day of the party. I chose the birthday boys’ favorite; coconut cream as well as wild berry (my favorite) and a pie I knew the kids would like; French silk.
Back Drop
The birthday pie bar backdrop is created using an old wooden pallet we had in the garage. I have used a similar backdrop in our Great Pumpkin Party as well as our S’mores and Stargazing Party. I love the rustic and earthy vibe of this backdrop. The pie bar sign was created using 4 1/2 inch letters on my Cricut. I traced a cereal bowl to get the white paper circles. The sign is then attached to the pallet with packaging tape.
The dress up the back drop I used fuzzy cream yarn and looped it over the pallet. I also used this white dot garland for another punch of interest and texture.
Pie Staging
To stage the pies I wanted to incorporate various shapes, materials and textures. The first texture in the pie staging was a burlap table cloth that I reused from our Great Pumpkin Party. Burlap has a distinct smell so be sure to air it out before using.
To stage the cups and the coconut cream pie I used the same crate I use in our Caramel Apple Bar Party. I bought a couple cute white coffee cups at Target and stacked them inside the crate. The wood and tin pie stand as well as the vase and bouquet were features in our Date Your Spouse: Drinking Dangerously post. The billowy florals and the wood and tin accents of the pie stand add even more texture to the party.
Pie pick and signage
To display the wild berry and French silk pies I use a wooden charger and a beaded white cake stand. The cake stand was purchased new for this party but the wooden charger is a feature in our Easter and Christmas tablescapes.
To let pie eaters know which flavors of pie are available; use simple white chalkboard labels. With a chalkboard marker, I labeled each pie and displayed it next to the cake stand/charger.
The finished touch to this party was a 8×10 sign created on Canva.com. I used the Apple Pie Menu Animate Story and modified it to include a stock image of pie and a quote from the birthday boy.
We love to celebrate birthdays at Mommy Baggage. The kids are often the focus of our birthday festivities with barnyard, pirate and ninja parties. This was only the second time we’ve done an adult party. Our first was a hoppy birthday party that was super fun. The Birthday Pie Bar was equally as fun and with three pies and a small guest list meant we had pie all weekend!
