I have three loves. Travel. My family. Being crafty. When an opportunity to celebrate all three of them presents itself; I get giddy. That’s exactly what happened when I started envisioning an at-home adventure awaits anniversary party. This party’s theme started to take shape in the aisles of a craft store when I laid eyes on a small globe that read, “see the world.” I couldn’t help but get excited to make connections between the journey of our relationship and the many adventures we have had or look forward to experiencing.
Centerpiece
The adventure awaits anniversary party was less crafty and more about styling pieces I already had or purchased. The cream table runner is the one I use every day. Find a similar one here. The globes and teal trunk was purchased at Hobby Lobby. To personalize the party’s centerpiece I added mementos from our travels. I incorporated two decorative jars filled with sand from our trips to Rio de Janerio and Florida. The small brass compass was a souvenier from an anniversary trip we took to London back in 2009. I scavenged the vintage cameras from our bedroom decor. They were purchased on eBay several years ago. Lastly, I added the angel food cake on a cake stand that we would have for dessert and the bottle of wine that would accompany our meal.
Place Settings
The place settings are functional and have few frills. I used a simple piece of corrugated 12×12 cardstock paper for the placements. The teal plates were also a Hobby Lobby find. If you make purchases at Hobby Lobby use the online 40% off coupon or wait until the item is 50% off during their weekly sales. It’s such a savings. For silverware and glasses, I used items we already own. The dessert plates were a find from online party supply retailer Big Dot of Happiness. The wine bottle labels also came from them.
Travel Photo Banner
The final decorative touch to this adventurous party was a banner that featured photos from our journey as a family and our travels. To make the banner I used teal mini clothespins to hang wallet-sized black and white photos on a piece of twine. I printed the photos on our home printer and backed them with travel themed scrapbook paper. It was like memory lane was draped across our patio door.

On the evening of our anniversary, we ate a spaghetti dinner with our boys telling stories of our travels and the places we hope to take them one day. We have been so blessed to be able to travel to many places as a couple. You can read about our adventures in London, Paris, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, Iceland, and the Czech Republic. We hope to add many adventures with our boys to several more destinations.
Happy Adventuring, Rochelle
